- Modernization of the Institute for Adriatic Crops and Karst Reclamation Infrastructure as a Precondition for Excellence in Mediterranean Agriculture Research

The call for the direct award of non-repayable funds to the Institute for Adriatic Crops and Karst Reclamation in Split was published on August 20, 2024. Details of the call can be found here.
The total project value is EUR 18,500,000, of which EUR 10,000,000 is financed by the DIGIT project, while the remaining amount is from the Recovery and Resilience Facility. The grant agreement was signed on December 12, 2024.
The project plans to construct and equip the facilities of the Center for Advanced Analytics and Support for the Development of Mediterranean Agricultural Products in Split. As part of a future organizational reform, a new unit within the Center is planned, serving as a foundation for transforming the Institute into an internationally competitive scientific institution. The planned infrastructure will enhance the Institute’s capacity for research, development, and innovation, enabling the advancement of instrumental analytics and precision technologies.
The Environmental and Social Management Plan (ESMP) was published in January 2025.

- Equipping of Laboratories and Facilities of the Croatian Forest Research Institute

The Call for proposal for the direct award “Equipping of Laboratories and Facilities of the Croatian Forest Research Institute” has been published under the DIGIT Project.
The grant beneficiary is the Croatian Forest Research Institute. Total value of the project amounts to EUR 4,992,696.14, of which EUR 4,971,857.14 represents grant funding financed through a World Bank loan under the DIGIT Project. The project implementation is planned for a duration of 30 months, starting on 16 February 2026.
The project involves investments in the modernization and equipping of the research infrastructure of the Croatian Forest Research Institute in Jastrebarsko. It includes the procurement of advanced scientific and non-scientific equipment for laboratories and other functional premises, as well as field equipment for research activities. The investment will enhance the Institute’s analytical, experimental, and monitoring capacities in the field of biotechnical sciences, particularly forestry and horticulture.
Through its implementation, the project will improve the conditions for conducting high-quality fundamental and applied research, increase participation in national and international research and innovation projects, and further strengthen cooperation with academia, public authorities, and the private sector. The project contributes to strengthening scientific excellence, knowledge and technology transfer, and the sustainable management of forest ecosystems and natural resources in the Republic of Croatia.
