About the DIGIT project
World Bank support to Croatia for digital transformation and green transition
The Ministry of Science, Education, and Youth (MZOM) is the authority responsible for managing the DIGIT project. Together with the Project Implementation Unit (PIU), it is accountable for the following activities:
- Publishing indicative dates for the opening of calls for project proposals,
- Preparing and publishing calls for proposals and receiving project applications,
- Preparing proposals for evaluation processes and ethical reviews,
- Preparing and sending funding allocation decisions and signing grant agreements,
- Publishing lists of grant agreements and disbursing funds to beneficiaries,
- Ensuring the quality of environmental and social instruments,
- Monitoring project implementation, tracking progress and irregularities, and reporting.
MZOM and PIU also manage the grievance redress mechanism (GRM) and, as needed, ensure the engagement of monitoring and evaluation (M&E) experts. In accordance with the Stakeholder Engagement Plan (SEP), the PIU’s social expert coordinates stakeholder engagement activities in collaboration with beneficiaries.
MZOM and PIU oversee the selection process for project proposals (establishing the Evaluation Committee – EC), prepare grant agreements (and amendments), and monitor project implementation.
MZOM has signed an Implementation Agreement with the Croatian Science Foundation (HRZZ) concerning the implementation of grant schemes under Component 2. This agreement covers support for the selection process of project proposals, the preparation and signing of grant agreements (and amendments, if applicable), and the monitoring of project implementation.
