A public presentation of the Environmental and Social Management Plan (ESMP) for the project „Construction and Equipping of Research Infrastructure of the University of Zagreb Faculty of Organization and Informatics – FOI 2“ was held in Varaždin on Monday, 1 June 2026.

The presentation was organized by the Faculty of Organization and Informatics and the DIGIT Project of the Ministry of Science, Education and Youth, as part of a public consultation that runs until 7 June 2026. At the end of last year, the Ministry issued a decision to finance the project “Demolition and construction of the new FOI 2 building” from a World Bank loan under the Digital, Innovative and Green Technologies (DIGIT) project, in the amount of 20 million euros.

The FOI 2 project concerns the construction of a new, modern campus of the Faculty of Organization and Informatics in Varaždin, located at 3 Fausta Vrančića Street, on a site that connects the city’s historical center with modern university and research facilities. This is a strategic investment aimed at strengthening long-term research and educational capacities, improving the quality of scientific research, and further positioning FOI within the European Research Area.

“We decided to support the project with 20 million euros in order to enable the construction and equipping of the new building and to create conditions for the further development of FOI, both in scientific research and in education. We believe that this investment will further strengthen FOI’s position as one of the most important university centers in Croatia,” emphasized Hrvoje Meštrić, PhD, Director General of the Directorate for Science and Technology at the Ministry of Science, Education and Youth.
