First Workshop under the Technology Scouting Program
The first workshop within the Technology Scouting Program was held in Zagreb on December 2nd and 3rd, 2024, as part of the DIGIT project – Digital, Innovative, and Green Technologies, supported by the World Bank.
The workshop brought together 20 selected candidates who will gain the knowledge and skills necessary to identify, evaluate, and promote the commercial potential of research and innovations through this unique program in Croatia. Technology scouts will play a key role in connecting scientific institutions and the economy, aiming to strengthen the innovation ecosystem and promote the development of sustainable technologies that can compete on the global market.
The program was opened by representatives from the Ministry of Science, Education, and Youth, as well as the World Bank, who highlighted the importance of this project in strengthening Croatia’s capacity in research and innovation. A special emphasis was placed on challenges such as collaboration between the scientific and business communities, to which this program will make a significant contribution.
During the workshop, participants engaged in interactive lectures and practical workshops focused on technology transfer, business validation, and preparation for Proof of Concept (PoC) projects. Through continuous mentoring and support, the program will ensure the quality implementation of projects, reducing the risk of poor-quality services and increasing the chances of market application of innovations.
Upcoming activities within the program include additional workshops, mentoring, and work on specific projects in collaboration with innovative companies and research institutions.
The Technology Scouting Program represents an important step towards strengthening innovation capacity in Croatia and fostering long-term partnerships between the private and public sectors.
The DIGIT project, with a total value of 106 million euros, is a key strategic initiative aimed at the structural reform of Croatia’s research and innovation system. In addition to the Technology Scouting Program, the project includes the development of a deep-tech start-up ecosystem and a range of activities aimed at creating a green, digital, and competitive economy.
